2022 Cabernet Sauvignon
Deliberately respectful oak choices, alongside minimal intervention wine making, have let this elegant fruit profile shine through, resulting in a bright, juicy and pretty wine.
The grapes were selective harvested in the early morning and transferred to the winery and hand crafted by our winemaker Livia Maiorana from South by South West. The fruit was whole bunch pressed, racked and transferred to 30% new French 225L Bel Air barriques for 18 months maturation.
Here is what the professional wine writers say about this wine:
"Immediately, resolutely, displays an air of class. There’s an upfront purity of Cabernet Sauvignon in intense aromas of crushed herbs, blackberry, cassis, spice. It’s a trademark Margaret River character captured well by the viticulturist and amplified by the winemaker. The palate is tight and focused with sturdy tannins holding court. While it is clearly very early in its development, this young Cabernet is slowly unwinding and revealing not only a solid structure for a bright future ahead, but a body of finely detailed Cabernet fruit dressed in smart oak. The wine’s leafy herbal interplay is a special attraction. All up, a memorable Margs ’22 Cabernet. Definitely a new wine name for me and one to remember. It shows a confidence with Cabernet that elevates it into a class above the ordinary."
"Sweetly fruited with savoury nuances, the enticing bouquet features blackcurrant, dark cherry, thyme, dried flower, star anise, and toasted nut aromas. It's beautifully weighted and finely flowing in the mouth, offering juicy fruit intensity with layers of grainy tannins, making it firmly structured with a persistent, sturdy finish. At its best: now to 2037. "
